Important Patient Update – New Appointment System from 17th September 2025 – Stenhouse Medical Centre

Posted by: devon - Posted on:

From Wednesday 17th September 2025, we are introducing a new way of requesting routine appointments to meet the requirements set out by the Government.

What’s Changing

  • All routine appointment requests must now be submitted via an online form through Systm Connect
  • Prescription requests, medication changes, test results and administrative queries can also be made through the online form.
  • Phone lines remain open, but our team will ask you to complete the online form instead. If you cannot use the form yourself, we will help you over the phone or at reception.

Urgent Appointments

For urgent same-day appointments, please continue to call at 8am. Capacity is limited and if your problem is not felt to be urgent reception staff will advise you of alternative options or seek advice from the GPs.

How to Request a Routine Appointment

You can contact us in the following ways during surgery hours:

  • Online: via the SystmConnect form on our website or a link sent to you by reception
  • By Phone: if you cannot access SystmConnect, our team will ask you some extra questions to complete the request.
  • In Person: our reception team can help you fill out the request form.

What Happens Next

Depending on your needs, you may receive:

  • An appointment with a GP (tests may be arranged beforehand so results are ready).
  • A consultation with another member of our clinical team – e.g. physiotherapist, pharmacist, nurse, or mental health practitioner.
  • A direct referral to a community service (e.g. Pharmacy First).
  • A prescription, sick note, or advice without needing an appointment.
  • A specialist referral if required.

Nurse Appointments

If you need a regular nurse appointment, you can continue to book by telephone as usual.
